FAQs

  • How safe is my pet’s procedure?

Your pet's safety is our top priority. At All Creatures Veterinary Clinic, every procedure is performed using up-to-date techniques and equipment, and we follow strict safety protocols. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork–always recommended, individualized anesthetic plans, and continuous monitoring during and after procedures ensure your pet receives the highest standard of care.

  • How often should my pet have an exam and blood work?

We recommend wellness exams at least once a year for adult pets and every six months for senior pets. Annual blood work helps detect underlying conditions early, allowing us to address potential health issues before they become serious.

  • Is a dental procedure necessary?

Yes! Dental care is a vital part of your pet’s overall health. Untreated dental disease can lead to pain, infection, and even organ damage. We offer professional dental cleanings and will assess your pet’s oral health during every wellness exam.

  • How important is nutrition for my pet?

Proper nutrition plays a key role in your pet’s health, energy levels, weight, and even behavior. We’ll work with you to choose the right diet for your dog or cat’s age, breed, and medical needs. Good nutrition is the foundation for a long and healthy life.

  • How long should I wait to bring in my pet if I notice a change in behavior?

If your pet shows sudden or unusual changes in behavior, it’s best to contact us right away. Behavioral changes can be early signs of illness or pain. Early evaluation can lead to quicker treatment and better outcomes.

  • What should I do if I notice visible parasites on my pet?

If you notice fleas, ticks, or other visible parasites, call us as soon as possible. We can recommend safe, effective treatment and preventive options. Some parasites carry serious diseases, so prompt action is important.

  • What are your boarding requirements (e.g., vaccinations)?

To keep all pets safe, we require up-to-date vaccinations for boarding. Dogs must be current on Rabies, Canine influenza, DHPP, Bordetella, and a negative fecal test. Cats must be current on Rabies and FVRCP. We also recommend flea and tick prevention before boarding.

  • What if my pet has an after-hours problem?

We offer after-hours care for established clients, but recommend a 24-hour facility for critical care.

  • Do I need an appointment, or do you accept walk-ins?

Appointments are recommended for prompt care, but walk-ins are welcome.

  • What should I bring to my first visit?

Please bring any previous medical records, a list of medications or supplements your pet is taking, and any questions or concerns you have. Bringing a stool sample for cats and keeping your pet on a leash or in a carrier is also helpful.

  • At what age should I have my pet spayed or neutered?

Most dogs and cats should be spayed or neutered around 6 months of age, but recommendations may vary based on breed, size, and health status. We’ll help you determine the best time for your individual pet.

  • What are heartworms, and how can I prevent my pet from getting them?

Heartworms are serious parasites transmitted by mosquitoes that can cause life-threatening heart and lung disease. Prevention is simple and affordable–monthly medication keeps your pet protected year-round. We recommend regular testing and year-round prevention for all dogs (and some cats).
